Sweden: import garbage to produce energy

While most countries around the world are trying to shrink the amount of trash they produce, Sweden faced a completely different challenge: running out of garbage.

The Swedes recycle on average 96% of the waste they produce and utilize the trash is not recycled to produce energy through an innovative system that electrifies incineration of thousands of households.

However, the problem is that the low production of waste and lack of garbage compromising energy production in the country.

As communicated by Swedish officials to address the situation now on the country will introduce an annual 800,000 tons of garbage from neighboring Norway, in order to meet its energy needs.

The best part is the assumption that the Norwegians will pay to give their garbage to the Swedes, proving once again that the waste is “gold”.
